For the afternoon of my Brother and Sister-in-laws wedding anniversary a family group of six adults and two children chose Le Bistrot De La Place as our destination. Set in the very sleepy hamlet of Tremolat well of the beaten tourist path. We were set outside under sun shades which could have done with being a tad bigger for those at the end of the table, but no matter.Lunch menu isn't extensive - if you like duck - you're in for a treat but most of the region has specialist duck menus so just a question of how good they are at cooking.Several settled for all duck menus while myself went for Gaspacho/Chicken/Chocolate pudding from the set menu €22.The gazpacho was pleasant - if a little lar...

We had a lovely dinner at Le Bistrot de la Place. As other have noted, in the high season you should definitely make a reservation. We were alone at our 7:30 seating, but within 30 minutes, the restaurant was full. The food is traditional French...but with some interesting twists, for example I had foie gras "sushi" rolls as an entree. I've never seen this before, and it was delicious. My plat was a more traditional duck confit and for dessert, I had another unexpected treat....a take on a frozen margarita....sort of a lime granita over a gelato. We ate lunch here as a party of 3. We all chose the menu de jour of cold melon soup with lemon sorbet, followed by duck with sweet ginger jus and celeriac puree and dessert of chocolate mousse, hazelnut ice cream and fresh berries. The restaurant is beautifully appointed with rustic touches. The food is exceptional and the staff are friendly attentive and knowledgeable. The wine list is very good, however we chose a demi pichet of local rose which was fresh and fruity. This place is on our return list and we'll be going back.

We had lunch today at le Bistrot but were very disappointed with the service. It was a French holiday but it seemed that the restaurant was under staffed. The menu de hour was nice although the chicken was over cooked. It has a decent but not extensive wine list. Probably will not return.
