We were looking for a nice place to eat in the region of Condrieu and darkened Bistrot de Serine's door by accident. We were early, the place was empty and we had no reservation. We were told that the place was unfortunately fully booked. We really loved the place which is a restaurant, a wine bar and also a wine shop with a very serious wine list. We were extremely disappointed and our two adorable hostesses went out of their way to try and squeeze us in. We managed to get a table. What an experience! Bistrot de Serine is located right in the middle of Ampuis. We ate lunch here after visiting some local wineries. The restaurant has an inner area, but on this day, all the dining was outside. It was a hot day, but there were plenty of large umbrellas for shade, although a few fans would have been a welcome addition. My wife had carpaccio of swordfish, and tortellini. I had terrine of rabbit, and marinated chicken with lemon. The 2 main dishes were excellent, but the 2 openers were just ok. The dessert, peach pie with ice cream was also very good. Service was slow and uneven.
we had a very good time there and although it was quite packed due to the marche du vin, we were served with a smile a good lunch coming with some of the best wine of the northern rhone valley. All are from producers very well known but still humble and simple.Price wise, the best value is definitely with the wine that you can get a a unbeatable cheap price for a restaurant ( and again, the quality of them is really fantastic)If you pass by Ampuls then stop by some producers and take your lunch at le bistrot de serine ..
After a morning visiting a couple of wineries in Côte Rôtie, my husband and I wanted a nice bistrot lunch and the manager at the last winery recommended this place. I can see why it's popular, as it seems to be one of the few places with a bit more "refined" cuisine and a proper wine list (which is surprising in a region such as Côte Rôtie). The food was correct, but slightly disappointing for the price. A place like this in Paris or Lyon wouldn't get half the attention it gets.

This place is great! The food is superb as is the wine list. You gotta see this wine list! The prices are the same as you would find in a good wine store, no mark up! Some rare beauty's too. Turns out the four guys that own this place are retired vintners from Ampuis. You need reservations! The place is full everyday.
A happy surprise when you enter the door and find the diningplace in the backyard. Beautiful and characteristic! Friendly staff and very good food and wine. Would like to visit again. No problem with children. Also got recomendations for a place to go for a swim.
Wonderful three course dinner here for 23 EUR (excl wine) with a wide selection of local wines. Had the deer shoulder as a main - was delicious and very tender. Service was great - had a lovely time! Apple tart with salted caramel icecream for dessert!
We landed in Lyon and went straight there for the first meal during four days in the region. Good friendly service, good simple menu and a lot of fun. Great wine list.

In the middle of the village with a very nice seating area in the courtyard. Very good value for money. I would highly recommend it
