"This is a great bistro. Traditional Aveyron food (few dishes but exquisite) becomes the side of the studied selection of regional wines. Friendly ambience, excellent service. I went twice in a week."

This small but excellent bistro is out of the way but well worth the trip. From the 5th,6th and 7th arrondissement take bus 86 or 87 to Bastille then take 76 to the corner of Charonne and Voltaire walk one block Leon Frot take a left it's on the corner to your right. Maybe 20 minutes by bus. We went for lunch had the choux farci (stuffed cabbage) so good and my friend had the omelet so big filled with cheese and ham served with a small salad. This place is authentic wine list very affordable. Anyway I really really recommend this bistro.

The founder and former owner Jacques Melac has sold his famous Bistro à vins. It seems the new owners are doing a good job on the food side, based on our lunch experience. If you are in Paris during the celebration of the Beaujolais Nouveau or the Fêtes de Vendange, the street corner or Rue Léon Frot and Rue Emile Lepeu can be a very nice place to spend your evening, with the locals of the surrounding blocks.

Have been here for dinner and absolutely amazed about the place (old bistrot french style), the excellent food quality (typical trench dishes -fois gras, cheese, escargot, auvergne melted cheese with egg, .... veal meat and duck, etc) and nice personel. Will come back again!

While visiting Paris, you should always remember that Paris is a very little taste of France! The only way to have an idea about the other regions is to try the original bistros and wine bars who bring special regional products. Bistrot Melac is one...of them.
