Black Dog Smoke Ale House

Stopped in from out of town and was pleasantly surprised. We had the brisket and ribs. Both were delicious. I had the brisket sandwich without bread, so obviously it was a smaller portion than the entree would be. We added the flight of BBQ sauces for $2 so we could try them all. The Georgia peach was clearly my favorite. The slaw is very bland, vinegar only... But meant for a sandwich and the server let us know beforehand that was the case. Sweet potato was good. My husband really enjoyed the green beans and the house made ranch on his salad. (salad is a 2.50 upcharge as a side) The restaurant itself is very small. This is a great place to stop and probably grab champaign and best BBQ. You have a great selection of beers to couple food with you. It is very a tough atmosphere and if you don't mind sitting at the bar to eat, you can usually beat waiting for a table. All in all, this is a great place to bring friends and family and enjoy a great meal.

Great service (txt from the car park if you are not eating in) . Great q. I eat here every time I'm in town to see my son at uiuc . It is a tradition and takes the sting off dropping him off. Always get the ribs and brisket. The smoked sweet potatoes is something different.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere, went with a group and solo, both times were same, gave it 4 stars because they were out of something specific when I went both times.

Yum. Delicious. The pulled pork sandwiches are satisfying bliss. And the cornbread with bits of meat is to die for.
