A nice find. After searching Zomato for nearby places with seafood, I chose the Black Pearl and wasn't disappointed. The service was good and the food even better. I started with a half-dozen oysters. They were fresh, briny, and delicious. The Manhattan I'd ordered, however, was a bit troubling. It was shaken, not stirred. Picky, picky, picky, but they're su[poised to be stirred and you can taste the difference. I followed up with a cup of Alsatian bean soup, which was wonderful. I have been going to Black Pearl for years, since I was a kid.They recently changed the menu and the selections are really limited. The food was great, but they really shot themselves in the foot with the new menu. There is nothing special about the dishes, it’s your basic food for high prices. They got rid of what was unique and great about The Black Pearl and replaced it with the same stuff you can find at any restaurant in town. I miss the old menu and prices.
a real newport classic experience. we miss the formal Commodores room, but the dinge have changed and the more moderate culinary experience seems to be enjoyed by more people. eating is always extraordinary. not to keep harping on past, but missed seeing the bachforelle as a daily special. my favorite! Maybe I was gone a day!
Everything was great. Cozy and warm atmosphere, attentive and kind service and good food. The only thing that took away from the experience was a table of loud women next to my daughter and me, complaining of money and relationship woes which couldn’t be prevented.
