I came here after I passed the entrance on a walk and was begged by my son to go down the mine! I can honestly say that it wasn't my personal choice to go on the tour, but that I really enjoyed it. it was interesting and the leader was very informative and kept us engaged. there are many steep steps that they take down, and then of course they have to go up on the return. I think it's pretty expensive, we paid £40 for 2 adults and a 5 year old, but as I said, I didn't plan that part of our day.
Great tour from experienced staff who also mine so have some great knowledge and stories of the mines. Tony our guide explained the mine history in detail and the science behind blue Jon mineral and. Be aware there are 245 steps to negotiate in various batches to reach the bottom of the mine and not Suprisingly the same number to get out along with slopes to walk along. The walking is not overly challanging but you need to take care.
the children had to be happy to see and learn about the blue john and the mining history. so much fun to go to the cave! there are many steps, but the leaders do not hurry. it is a very sensory experience and you don't have to wear a helmet. take a camera
the most beautiful towards the peak district. many hiking / hiking trails to the mountain back to mam tor and the mountain back to foot. free parking was also a bonus. a few caffes where they can get hot drinks and snacks.
