This wine tasting was a part of tour and the wine was served with some very tasty tapas. There was one draw back in that there was no seating available which was fine for most but not for those with difficulties with standing. There were glasses placed one dowels sticking out of a centre pole with in a barrel base, once you had your glass you could help yourself to wine. A white, a red and rosa were on offer while tasting the wine we were served with tapas. The tapas was really tasty, hams and cheeses on bread and very hot steamed potatoes which were served plain in their skins. The final touch was a small sample of a sparkling white wine this was poured by the servers as it was not a wine ma...

This was a fun stop for wine tasting and tapas. You’d never know from the outside that stepping across the threshold would unveil quite a sight…..some 4,000 bottles (most empty) line the walls. It’s neat! The wines are fair….but the cheeses and hams they served as we tasted were delicious and refreshing on a warm day. Though we did not purchase wine we did take home a jar of the sauce they served. It was very good. The Canary Islands are not where you’ll find the finest wines….but you’ll find refreshing and very drinkable bottles to enjoy while you’re there. That’s the attitude we had while visiting and were not disappointed.

We visited here on a P&O cruise excursion, they think because they’ve given you wine they can rip you off, we bought a bottle and the woman at the till very swiftly threw in a box of awful chocolates which I’m allergic to into my bag of wine, they cost €5, didn’t realise what she’d done until we got on coach, thought at the time she’d slipped a leaflet in there, looking at receipt the crafty cow had charged us . The Tapas was awful, no veggie option, couldn’t even eat the cheese because it was covered in luncheon meat

We visited Bodegas Alvaro as part of a wine tour excursion from our ship. It has great atmosphere and helpful staff. The waiters provided full decanters of local wine and a generous tapas selection. Try the hot papas (potatoes) with garlic dip. Yummy. The front of the building has a shop where you can purchase the garlic dip, if you like it. We also purchased wine, packaged for travel. Recommend. We will return on our next trip to Tenerife.
