A friend collected us from the airport and took us to Brauhaus for a quick lunch. We were very impressed! The service was exemplary, they even got a menu in English for us. Philipp was our waiter and helped us making us feel very welcome. The menu was extensive. I opted for the venison stew with potato croquettes and red cabbage. Wonderful and very very tasty. My wife had the Trout which she commented on as being Lovely! I will visit this establishment again if given the chance. A lovely introduction to Freistadt
We came for dinner after a long working day and thoroughly enjoyed both food and service. The beers (yes, we tasted our way through! are exceptional, to my taste exceptionally the Zwickel. The Schweinsbraten (pork roast was sensational, and my friend 's Steckerlfisch (a saibling smoke-roast on a stick, see picture was also great, and a typical Austrian treat for a hot summer. We would return in a heartbeat.

Brewed on the premises, the German-Austrian style beer is actually excellent. Food was up to par with what other traditional Gasthaüser offer. A tad less expensive may be. Should you decide to have lunch there, make sure to arrive early (around 11/11:30) as the place is always fully booked for the 1pm service.
This place is terrible. Good beer but a totally inhumane “dog parking lot”, and totally rude and disinterested staff. No dogs outside in the garden or inside. Totally unreasonable. No reason to drive all the way to Freistadt to be treated this way, I’ll never be coming back.

A lively spot in town. Great food and beer brewed on the premises. The soup is great, apple strudel the best we had in two weeks. Really enjoyed our time here.

Whether you tour the brewery or not, stop by for a great beer and a bite to. eat. Between 2-6 only light meals, but a delightful menu for a light meal.
