This restaurant is situated in the St Katherine Docks area which has a great vibe and energy about it. We had made a booking, and I'm glad we did as this was super busy when we visited on a Thursday evening. Food was excellent and on the whole felt very authentic. Particular highlights were the octopus and lamb chops both were cooked perfectly. I was also impressed with the sliders and bread with tomatoes. Unlike some tapas places you felt the quality was high and that you were not being ripped off. The only odd note were the prawns still very tasty, but didn't feel very Basque. The food here is always outstanding and as ever did not disappoint. There was not a single dish that didn't taste fresh, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The sangria was great and the atmosphere inside and outside was lovely and vibrant. However, the staff, other than the maitre d' were not particularly friendly. Very little chat, no smiles and the waitress we had complained about how busy it was and how stressful it all is to quite a great extent. This has not been my experience before. We also had lovely cocktails before but this time only 3 on the menu and we were told no others could be made as the barman is alone and, which was a bit of a shame.
Mixed feelings about this restaurant; the location is great in St Kathrine's Docks. The food is ok, but nothing out of the ordinary. The service is the weak spot; the drinks came half way through the service and after our rehiterated request and one of the drinks was wrong. We were served someone else's dish but especially, although we informed about the intolerance to an allergene, we were still served a dish with that ingredient and after we insisted on checking with the kitchen, we found out the dish did actually contained eggs. The bill, almost 40£ per head including one drink, seems excessive for what we experienced as a whole.
Had an early dinner here tonight and it was fantastic! Gazpacho plus a fennel and pineapple salad, grilled octopus as well as a slow cooked pork belly in a sauce that I wish I could have bottled and taken home. Finished with a caramelized brioche pudding. Every dish was SO good!! Loved the energy in this place. If you sit outside you overlook a wharf with several sailboats. Toward the end of our meal the owner came over and asked if we enjoyed our meal…YES! Highly recommend! Book a table now
We went here for dinner and had one of the best tapas dinners ever, including Spain. We had anchovies, gazpacho, and octopus. The octopus was the best we've had in Europe, but is not as good as in Mexico. Based on what we were served, I think anything on the menu would be excellent. The presentation of the food was top-rank. Will definitely return when possible.
