If you are from the south, rejoice! Brenda's has the best service I've had since moving to the West Coast and some of the menu could go toe to toe with my grandma's cooking, just don't tell her that. If I were being super critical I'd say that the fried catfish and okra that I grew up on had a thicker batter that was seasoned more generously and that the corn bread was a little dry. With that said it is savory corn bread, my personal favorite. Also, gumbo and grits taste like home. I'm thrilled to have this option in San Francisco and this is one of those places that I'm super excited to take friends and family when they come in town. It really is a must try. I will be here a lot.

I would give B'sM&T 10 stars if possible! What an incredible restaurant...this was our first time in San Francisco and our meal at Brenda's will be a cherished food memory forever. We ordered the Fried Chicken (dark meat), cheesy grits, collard greens, and a Bavarian beer. The fried chicken comes with a wonderfully moist, crumbly cream biscuit that, along with the cheesy grits and pepper jelly, is pure food bliss! The fried chicken is exceptional. I can't fully capture this experience in words, so I'll just say it's highly recommended!
Since the long-standing Elite Cafe disappeared years ago, this is the go-to cafe for Southern cuisine. The menu is standard fare including beignets, fried chicken, omelettes, grits and corn succotash to name a few. The ambience is cute with plenty of two tops. Vegetarian dishes can be had, but unfortunately no chicory coffee. They do serve Mr. Espresso however. Meals are well prepared and plentiful. The variety of beignets offered are fluffy not stuffy. If only the served peanut butter pie! ?Vegetarian options: Corn succotash
Great place to get southern American meal. We had a great brunch at Brenda’s.They have a large choice of food on weekends because you can choose between breakfast and lunch dishes. The food was super good, flavourful. I loved the texture of the grits with the shrimps and tomato. The spicy chicken burger is also a great choice and comes with fries, coleslaw or salad. The ambiance, super comfy, as well as the staff were also great. This is the first good biscuits and gravy I've had since I moved to California. The cheese grits and hash are also amazing. Our waiter was very patient with our questions about the menu and told us a bit about the area. We sat on the patio and it was nice and cool and quiet. Made it through one of the pint mimosas, peach and mixed berry are both great. I forgot to take a picture before we started eating.
I ordered the chicken sandwich and found it to be good but not exceptional. I would definitely return to try something different, like the fried chicken with sides or the burger. The outdoor seating area is charming, and there is a pleasant bar where solo diners can sit. Overall, a nice experience.
Ordered their special, blackened catfish. Delicious! Well seasoned. Their drink menu is simple with wine and beer, and a few brunch drinks (eg. mimosa, **** mary, sangria). We made reservations in advance on a Sunday because the restaurant will get filled up.
Ordered the meet three, fried chicken, collard greens, mashed potatoes, and mac cheese. Fried chicken was good, sides were good too but the collard greens were a bit too salty for my taste.Still service was good and the restaurant was clean. Book a table now
Experience a touch of New Orleans in San Francisco at this charming restaurant. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast featuring eggs Benedict and cheese grits. The patio was lovely and the service was exceptional.
Good red beans are so hard to find. The ones here are great! The pear Brown Betty was also ridiculously delicious. Love the New Orleans ties.
