This cozy little spot has a nostalgic, old-school vibe that captures the essence of pre-gentrification Washington, D.C., which is becoming increasingly rare (though the kitchen is mainly run by a team of Latina women). The food is both tasty and reasonably priced. You can get any burger on wheat, but keep in mind it will be served on wheat toast rather than a wheat bun, which is what I personally prefer. There are some seats available, but nearly everyone opts for delivery or takeout. I've had to use the restroom a couple of times, and while it’s quite basic like everything else in the place, it was very clean and had a pleasant smell, which I appreciated.
I’ve ordered from here before and the food is always good. Today I ordered breakfast. Chicken Waffles (delicious) and my husband ordered the salmon, egg and cheese sandwich on a croissant. We unwrapped the sandwich and there was a SHARPIE inside!!! So disgusting!!! Tried to call the restaurant… no answer. DoorDash gave me a partial refund.
Brookland Grill is my go-to spot for a quick lunch or breakfast. Mr. Charles is incredibly accommodating; he even let me have a meal for a low price when I forgot my wallet. There are no unnecessary frills here, just delicious food and a calm atmosphere to enjoy it in, especially among all the choices on 12th Street.
Friendly with the customers , quick to get the food out and the food was amazing. Decently priced as well. They don't try to kill your pockets for the food and service they present. Little cluttered . Their corned beef hash was fire . So good.

Googled breakfast near me and this place came up and I’m glad it did!!! AMAZING!!! Food was so delicious and fresh!!! I got a fish breakfast and a steak and egg sandwich. OMG! So good I didn’t want to stop eating lol definitely worth it!
A straightforward American dining experience with a casual vibe. The prices are fantastic, and the food is even better. It can get quite busy, but it's worth the wait! I particularly love the grits and scrambled eggs.
Nice little corner spot, got the Obama breakfast special and sausage gravy fries everything was delicious, lady taking orders was nice too. Not the best area but food is GREAT.
The Big Breakfast featuring the whiting is truly exceptional. Each component is cooked flawlessly, with just the right amount of seasoning, and the portions are satisfying.
