Just wanted to do an update to my previous review of Buddy Wonton Seafood Restaurant from a few years ago. The shopping centre where it is located is receiving an exterior facelift giving the buildings a nice modern look. The consistent and excellent Chinese food has not changed. Buddy Wonton remains as my go-to restaurant for Chinese food for business lunches, family dinners or for take out. I average about 3 or 4 visits per month. Our family has been regulars at the wonton restaurant for years. In the beginning the food was good and price is reasonable. Recently, the quality and taste of food not so great, stir fry beef ho-fun noodle was not presentable, noodles are lumpy and small tiny pieces of beef are broken in pieces with lots of oil. Their price also gone up at least twice since end of last year, however; the food quality went down in same speed.We used to see other people ordered set meal before due to its value. Out for a birthday dinner with friends. Overall, not great. There's a couple things I would point out for this review. It wasn't busy, but service was really slow. I was never sure who our server was, at least three people came and did things, but no one ever asked if we wanted anything besides water to drink? We ordered a lot of food, with appetizers, but it all just came whenever, and the appies just randomly in there too. I found the food to be VERY plain and boring, the ginger beef was really so plain. The only good item I think we had was the No Name Shrimp, otherwise I would pass on all of it.
Thought we would give this another try since it was under renovation and now concluded. found that the dishes we ordered were loaded with veggies, with very little meat (i.e chicken, sweet and sour pork.) Had ordered an extra side of veggies, but to our dismay every item had a bed of them. May be our last try. Much competition in the area! Maybe out timing was poor. Ordered at @P and perhaps we received lunch leftovers!

This is authentic, no-nonsense, flavourFULL Cantonese food served piping hot as fast as it comes out of the kitchen. Portions are huge, seating is comfortable and uncrowded, and the service is very good. If it's not on the menu they will make it for you. The food is about as far from your typical Westernized Chinese take-out fare as Edmonton is from Shanghai. Highly recommended.
We dined again at Buddy's with family and all agreed that every dish was superb. The wor wonton soup is loaded with shrimp beef and chicken. The best dishes are Deep Fried Basa, Pork with Hot Peppers and Peanuts and the Crispy Chicken. Also the Szechuan Beef is excellent.
Upon arriving, the server gave us a warm greeting and immediately seated us. Seating was typical and was fine. Food was served in a very timely manner, however was not too great. The meat did not taste very fresh and was very chewy.
We tried this restaurant on a whim since we were in the area. Service was quick, food was very tasty and overall a great experience. And we went home with leftovers from the Dinner for 3.

Shared 3 dishes with a friend. The service was great! The food was delicious and hot from the kitchen! The complimentary tea was always refilled! Had lots to take home as well!
The food is not fantastic but is okay. The portions are huge and the prices reasonable. The place is clean and the staff is friendly.
