To be completely honest, the burger at this restaurant reminded me of a glorified McDonald's burger. While there was nothing inherently wrong with it, I didn't find anything particularly special about it either. Burgers are my favorite food, so I may be a bit critical, but when I took a bite, it immediately reminded me of a McDonald's hamburger, with a fairly similar taste. After waiting for years to visit Bunsen based on the many positive reviews, I couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. The burger was just very basic and simple, which may appeal to some people, but I was unsure how they had built a successful restaurant chain around it. Nonetheless, I must give credit where it's due.
This place was just okay. It was nicely decorated, clean, and had friendly, polite staff. Unfortunately, they only had one cider choice on the menu, and there wasn't any in stock when I was there. The food was just okay. For the price, I was expecting higher quality burgers. They were better than a fast food restaurant, but not a patch on somewhere like Gourmet Burger Kitchen. It was fine, but nothing special and I probably wouldn't return. It just depends what you're looking for, I guess.
AMAZING! This is definitely one of the best smash burgers I have ever had! The menu is delightfully simple, fitting on a business card-sized menu. This allows for a focus on the high quality of the food and ingredients. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. I ordered the double cheeseburger and shoestring fries, which were perfectly crispy and delicious. The burger had wonderfully crispy edges and a beefy flavor that tasted like premium quality beef.
Have been a few times and the burger never disappoints. I always get a cheeseburger cooked medium and it comes perfectly cooked. I usually get the shoestring fries but this time got the hand cut. Bunsen has no thrills or spills, it’s easygoing with a nice atmosphere and the staff are friendly and straight forward. No big menu, it’s a burger, chips and a drink. If you are a veggie this may not be the place for you. I’ll defo be back.

This restaurant is simply amazing. It serves the best cheeseburger I have had in the past 6 months of traveling around Europe. Anyone who claims that this isn't a good burger clearly doesn't know what they're talking about. The size of the burger is perfect, it is cooked to perfection, and the beef is delicious. The fries are also great. The cost is reasonable as well. Thank you for a fantastic meal!
A great burger place. A very simple menu, lots of atmosphere. It was busy, so we had to wait around 20 min before we received a text telling us that our table was ready. When asked, they wrapped our burgers in lettuce leaves rather than having a bun. The service was friendly and efficient. A nice meal out.
No extensive menu, this place provides great quality, freshly prepared burgers. If you don't want a burger, don't come. If you love burgers and are in Belfast make sure you try this place! Friendly staff, industrial canteen style restaurant, drinks menu small but easily quaffable.
Great burgers, great service, great prices. What’s not to like. Washed down with a bottle of cider. Can’t get that in plastic McDonald’s!!
