Went for a business dinner at this superbly atmospheric spot. Next to the impressive castle, now a youth hostel, with a great view over Heppenheim and further afield. We sat outside appreciating this view until it became a touch chilly. Inside it was a bit...rough and ready. Simple food but authentic schnitzel, chips and salad. Greasy but tasty. I liked the range of beers too. The disappointing aspect was the service, unsmiling and even a touch rude. Surprising since our group brought a good bit of business to the pub on an evening when otherwise it would have been empty. Overall ok but some investment in surroundings and service wouldn't go amiss.
This place is the most fantastic location and you cannot better the views of heppenheim from here. The bar area is very small but make sure you go on a warm summers day and you can sit outside, again to appreciate the view. The drinks...choice is very extensive, but the food choice is limited. I had to visit this biergarten since I love Heppenheim and enjoy visiting the castle. The biergarten is right next to the castle. There is outdoor seating. There are some tables that have a great view. Parking is down the hill with a walk up...toward the castle but you drive part way up to the castle to a parking lot. We enjoyed the local Heppenheim wine. We only had an appetizer with our wine but there is a full menu. They are closed on Monday and Tuesday.
significantly improved menu since the last report. very nice staff, but everywhere disturbing weep that ruined the atmosphere. I think they should invest in puppy-catchers? Apart from that, some drinks and a flaky cake came to 25 euro, and in terms of the worth, this was not so great.
