"Just Arrived after a long Clime in 26 degrees sun, and an hour before opening the tavern. 10 minutes later, those responsible arrive and we are offered service, which meant two cyclists who were served quickly and cold. Super!!!"

We visited the castle ruins and the view over the Moselle. But we decided to try a light lunch. You can eat or eat outside. During our visit it was rainy, so we stayed for the most part inside. The menu is somewhat limited with typical lunch: a soup, a salad and my wife had a sausage and potato salad plate. They serve a local brand of Sodas and Bittburger beer products. It was all very nice and because of the rain we had the place. There are some precautions because the toilets are in another building and you have to ask the keys in the restaurant. I think they'll charge if you're not a customer. The restaurant itself is on a small hill and it could be difficult to get handicap access.

Since I can't go very far, we took the car to the parking lot. Unless you have an off-road vehicle, do NOT try the curveless road from the Schottstraße, but take the turn from the L190 (small signs for the restaurant will tell you what branch). Our car barely made all the humps and bumps, only to manage to avoid the bumper by very careful manouvering. On the small parking lot at the end of the street you go to the restaurant that gives you access to the ruins. We were so stunned by the view that we had to sit down and order a drink just to take everything. Other table had ordered food that looked nice. Service was fast, we barely waited a minute.

Great full service spot on top of the mountain amid the castle ruins. Clean modern restrooms, casual (read slow... service belies a great spot for Alsatian-style pizzas and decent selection of beers, coffee and wine by the glass. We tried the 300 year old recipe for cheese in mustard, grape seed oil sour bread....it's a pass. The flatbread /pizzas are surprisingly good...probably as most have bacon and sour cream or creme fraiche. A few glasses of Riesling and a couple of pizzas, some castle pictures makes for a perfect afternoon. Service was friendly and they speak passable English, there is an English menu as well, would go every visit!!

My wife and I went up for the view. Our reward was a great view of the Moselle and a cool and refreshing drink. The waitress was very nice. We highly recommend. Back... look for the flag before you decide to wander... no flag, no drink. If they're open, the flag flies.
