We were staying at a campsite about 1 mile away, so we decided to take a stroll to this restaurant in the mid-afternoon for a couple of pints. We had checked beforehand that they would be open (supposedly from 4.00), so we were disappointed to arrive and find no sign of life at all. Another couple was also there, hoping to get in, but at least they hadn't walked all the way. We had tried calling the number on their website earlier, but it was unobtainable, which should have raised some red flags. The pub looked nice but had a slightly run-down feel to it. What a shame.

20 people for a birthday party at The Butchers Arms. Rory and Lorraine were on their own servicing not only this but also the pub in general. What can I say but that they were absolutely wonderful They worked their socks off to make it a truly fabulous evening with great food, a friendly welcoming atmosphere and making it a truly memorable occasion! They deserve every success and we will all be going again. I would unreservedly recommend anyone to visit and enjoy this quintessential country pub. Thank you so very much Rory and Lorraine, you’re real stars!!
According to their website and google, the pub is open on Sundays from 12 noon. So I walked approx. 7 miles to this pub on Sunday 26th Feb arriving at 2.15pm only to find the pub locked shut. Someone cleaning the gents loo asked if I was alright and told me the pub wasn't opening until 2.45pm for the rugby, and then darted into the pub locking the door behind him, leaving me sitting outside in the cold until my husband could pick me up. Butchers Arms- if you are going to change your opening hours, please at least update your website!
We were staying at Glebe camp site for the weekend and were recommended The Butchers Arms a lovely local pub which we really enjoyed. Lorraine was very friendly and welcoming and the pub was very clean and warm. They served great food classics such as scampi, steaks burgers etc which were great with big portions and great value. Overall very it was a great night with a nice atmosphere and would definitely recommend and go back to. Book a table now
I made a reservation online for 1pm on a Tuesday without any issues. However, upon arrival, the restaurant was closed. It seems this is a recurring problem based on other reviews. This was incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. We had to find another place to eat. If the restaurant is going to be closed on a Tuesday, they should update their hours and not accept reservations. Needless to say, we will not be returning.
On the Sunday of coronation weekend, we decided to visit 'The Butchers Arms' in Fringford. The service provided by Rory and Lorraine was outstanding - they were cheerful and friendly. This cozy pub is located in a charming village with a cute little coffee shop next to it. The Sunday lunch we had was fantastic, with generous portion sizes. I highly recommend paying a visit to this lovely establishment!
Surprisingly quiet Friday lunchtime, excellent service, excellent meals and Mellow Magic playing, what could be better. Just a bit too chilly to eat outside, but inside is very charming.
Dinner was OK but Pub is shut AGAIN!. Guy at door said it had been shut for months which was a lie. Lost my trade and at least a dozen others Permanently. Book a table now
Our Sunday roast was exceptional. Perfectly presented and cooked to perfection. A very substantial portion. Highly recommended.
