During our holiday in the opposite, we purchased two types of buttercake and some cookies. I usually enjoy buttercake and have a bit of a sweet tooth, but I was disappointed this time. The cake was dense and tough, with a raw edge that seemed underbaked. I was expecting the filling to be a little runny, but it was practically liquid. We managed to force ourselves through one of them, but unfortunately threw away 4 out of the 6 we bought. The cookies, on the other hand, were quite delicious. Other items on offer looked tempting, but after the disappointment with the buttercake, I was hesitant to try anything else. Overall, I was unable to find any positives and would not recommend this place.
Buttertarts N' is a popular spot for the small British community and a must-stop for Kawartha cottagers traveling from the city to the lake. Located in Little Britain, a quaint area surrounded by farmland, Buttertarts N' is hard to miss with its light yellow awning and large maple leaf and moose decorations. Known for their delicious tarts, they also offer a variety of other treats including Chelsea buns, unique scones, and savory Veggie/Cheese breads. They are open daily, so there's no excuse to miss out on visiting this gem except for Christmas when they are closed. It's definitely worth a visit!
Some of the best buttertarts we have ever had. Yes they are runny and the crust is moist but its hard to choose which flavour is our favorite as they offer a great selection. You can see the ladies making fresh batches so you know...they are not factory made. If you get lucky or get there early enough, the chocolate dip doughnuts are delicious. Warning they are hard to come by. Sandwiches, Chelsea buns, pizza bread, loafs, rolls, I could go on but its making me hungry. Just wish the drive wasn't so long.
5 minutes after closing. we were so disappointed. then a head comes out of the door and says if you're fast, you can come in. I was so excited. I made mine inward and took a box of butter tarts and thanked the wonderful dame behind the counter several times to serve for the hours. a very satisfied customer and the tarts were amazing. you can't miss this place! Nice family style diner; huge menu, super fast service. They were doing lots of take out orders when we visited, in addition to seated patrons. Lots of regulars there, which is always a good indicator of good eats, friendliest, and good prices. We didn't try...them, but noticed there were a lot of people popping in to purchase their butter tarts.
Our 2nd time here. When we realized we were passing by here on our way back from vacation we stopped here for lunch/dinner. It is a combination bakery/restaurant with good food at reasonable prices. We didn't buy any bakery items so I can't rate that...but the meals were very good both times we've been there. Service was good too, very friendly.
The three types of tarts were too casual, messy, and poorly baked. The coffee was weak and lacked flavor, which was very disappointing. However, some people may still enjoy the tarts, but they were not to my liking.

Picked up a dozen tarts. Everyone loved them but have to say the buttertarts were way too runny. They are usually my favorite but these were a mess.
