Recently we stopped in Quimper to do a little shopping and had a quick lunch at Le Finistere. Despite the pouring rain we sat outside under their very large awnings. As we were not particularly hungry we ordered that French classic Croque Monsieur. Perhaps we should have seen warning signs from the speed of delivery. Clearly there had been no time to prepare it from scratch, indeed not time to cook it from scratch. Presumably it had been reheated, probably in a microwave. Over the years I have enjoyed this dish many times in many different places in France and even a few times in Britain. Unless my memory is playing tricks, this was the worst so far. The location is just about prefect for one to start a visit to Quimper.Visit have a coffee, look at the world go by, plan your visit.Do have a look at the lunch menu which is very good value.We returned for lunch and found the food to be good quality and not expensive!Do make sure to come early as by 12.30 it can get quite full.One small tip, all of the seats just outside the door are taken by locals who smoke!!So pick a table far from the door.In the summer lots to look at!!
Face à la cathédrale c'est top, surtout qu'il faisait un temps magnifique Les chèques vacances sont acceptés, ce qui est un plus. Serveuse polie, efficace, mais pas très souriante. Elle devait débuter car elle m'a dit que les chèques vacances n'étaient pas acceptés alors que sa collègue qui m'a installée m'avait dit le contraire. Bref. Je recommande cet établissement.
During our recent 9 day stay in Quimper we had 2 dinners here; great food & atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and helpful; as we don't speak much French.The restaurant is in a great location in the square beside the cathedral with numerous nearby stores.

We had the Breton Platter and a goat's cheese salad. The platter was a vast helping of local sausage, salami and pate, and the salad was generous too. A sunny and lively spot for a quick lunch at a fair price. So no complaints from us.
We 'chilled' initially with a coffee apiece. It was a very hot day and the shade from the canopies was welcome. Service was good. Having been around the town we returned for a cold drink and a further 'chill'
Fantastic location. Spent a morning watching the world go by - three lovely coffees. Toilets first class and service excellent. Went back two days later to sample the delights once more. Recommended.
My wife and I stopped here for our morning coffee break, it was around 10:45 and was quite busy. We both had coffee with the local cake, both were very good.
