We rode from Quebec City, across the St Lawrence and along the eastern shore. As we went along the river, we were surprised not to find any eating establishments. When we finally came across the Cafe du Marche, we were ready for even poor food. What we got instead was great service, a lovely little sidewalk table and some really good food. It was only lunch, but the pizza and frites and the smoked meat sandwich were excellent, and the meals big enough to be shareable. The server brought the shared dishes out already portioned separately. A good stop on a ride or drive through the Levis area.

This cafe is a popular spot for locals in the old part of Levis. Although it's not fancy, the service is incredibly friendly and the food is tasty. The surrounding area is mainly residential. We decided to dine here because we were staying in the newly developed area about 10 km away, and didn't want to drive back to Quebec City on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River. I took my 5-year-old son to the restaurant. He ordered crepes and I had eggs benedict with duck confit and maple caramelized onions. The food was delicious. We definitely plan on coming back again. The terrace is great for enjoying brunch in the sunshine.
