I had Cafe Madrid on my list of places I've been trying for a few years. I decided to try my family for my birthday dinner this year. The ambience is sweet outside and the interior is interestingly decorated. However, the carpet is worn and the overall picture is that of an aging restaurant that needs some updates. We ordered the paella that came out in a very big court. We thought we had only ordered for 2 people, but they were prefabricated for 4 which meant that we spend a large amount of money and decided not to try any other dishes on the menu. I'm not sure if the restaurant was short (isn't everywhere these days? or their welcome procedures need some work, but our arrival was the only welcome in our evening. The food was great. Rolls were served which were warm, hearty and yeasty. The olive oil was fruity, light and rich. The Balsamico vinegar was rugged and sweet. The service was a little slow for it not being busy but the food and wine were immaculate. I shared six tapas with two other people but only captured a photo of one. The portions are good sized and generous. I will be coming back to try the other tapas and maybe some main dishes ? I just love my Tapas.
