We went for brunch this morning as a Saturday treat and were totally disappointed. Two flat whites and two meals off the brunch menu were just over £26, I would not have minded this if the food had lived up to expectation but it didn't. The waitress brought over our coffees which were a bit slow to arrive, the order was supposed to be one regular flat white and one with oat milk but she didn't know if that's what they were, so she had to come back with another one to be sure. Not so bad, it happens. Food arrived later and was not great. The extra bacon we'd ordered for one meal (one measly streaky rasher for £1 more) was on the wrong plate. Scrambled egg was watery, poached egg looked like i...

On our way back from a walk we decided to go to cafe R. Last time we went they had just reopened and the visit was not a positive experience. This time was different. The roast dinner my husband had was excellent ,my Welsh rarebit lacked taste (maybe it needed stronger cheese, more mustard or beer) but the salad and chutney were back to the usual high standard. The staff were all very good, with smiles and really pleasant. It 's really good to be able to take our dog in and best of all the tiffin in Ruthin is the best but there was NO tiffin and that 's a big shame. Thank you.

We are regular Saturday morning customers to Cafe R, and were particularly pleased with the visit this morning. We were greeted on arrival by the manageress, who advised us that because they had a large party of 50 people for breakfast, she had taken the liberty of reserving a table for us so we did not miss out. We had not asked for this, nor were we aware of it until we arrived. This is customer service which one sees very rarely these days and not only was it appreciated, but the manageress is to be commended for it.

Had lunch here this week . First visit since makeover except for a long winded sit outside last year for Costa drinks which was very disappointing. Things were better this time and the decor is cosier than it was although it seems an extravagant use of council money to refurbish what was perfectly ok. Anyway the Welsh Rarebit was good although a stingy portion for the price! Ham chips went down well . The passion cake was disappointing… over sweet butter cream.

We popped on for a light lunch after a visit to the adjoining craft centre. A cheese and ham toastie seemed to be a bit pricey at £8.50, but turned out to be good value. We shared it and enjoyed the crusty toasted bread, thick slices of flavoursome ham, covered with a generous portion of cheese. Accompanied by salad, coleslaw and crisps. Coffee was good. Easy parking and a short stroll from Ruthin's quaint town centre.

I organized a gathering for a colleague's retirement with around 20 people in attendance. The staff at the restaurant were incredibly helpful and accommodating as we made a bit of a mess ordering coffees and cakes. The cakes were scrumptious and the atmosphere was very inviting. The service was excellent and several of us even brought our dogs, who were all given plenty of attention. I highly recommend this place.

We spent £8.50 on a pot of tea for two and a slice of Bara Brith. The Costa cups used in the cafe were so heavy and thick that my elderly relative struggled to lift her tea cup. We were in the cafe for about an hour before it closed, but the staff were mopping the floor nearby as we enjoyed our tea. The strong smell of disinfectant was overwhelming and not pleasant.

We tried the Christmas menu at this restaurant and it was great value for money at £24.95 for 3 courses. The food was delicious and everyone in our group enjoyed it. The portion sizes were generous as well.

Lovely food but slightly disappointed with my option. Quiche salad £8.95 can see from picture this was a garnish not a salad. My child fish fingers and chips was much better value
