The food was amazing and very affordable, especially given that everything was made fresh with high-quality ingredients. My corned beef sandwich was among the best I've ever had, and my husband claimed his sandwich was the best he's ever tasted. He mentioned it was truly worth the 25-minute drive from our home. The service was excellent, and it was clear that the owner takes great pride in the establishment. I highly recommend it!
AMAZING dessert shop, but don't sleep on the sandwiches! We ordered 18 sandwiches, fries, and a rum cake for a company holiday lunch. Cakes Shakes came thru to the highest degree. Every sandwich was made with care. Ingredients were fresh and high quality. The Woodward Ave. had the best caramelized onions I have ever tasted. The friendly staff were a cherry on top of the experience. We will be back for sure!
The food was fantastic, but the service left much to be desired! The cashier clearly didn’t want to be at work. When we entered, she didn’t greet us or even acknowledge our presence. In fact, she went to the back and remained there for quite some time. When she eventually returned, she took our order without making any eye contact and came across as quite unfriendly. It was a disappointing experience.
Creatively, amazing desserts! Stop by for a visit if you want something deliciously different like a “cake shake”, a strawberry lemon pound cake or if you just want your favorite classic dessert like ice cream, banana pudding or the many flavors of cakes. Hands down best desserts and sandwiches in Highland Park. Likely the best in Detroit. Possibly the best in the entire metro area! The Rum cake knocked my socks off!
Pound cake isn’t usually my favorite, but theirs is absolutely delicious! Based on the pound cake alone, I'm planning to come back and try all their other cakes.
