Full disclosure that I went here consistently as a kid. It is one of those childhood memories that I am passing on to my son. After being away for a solid period of time I went back the other day and I 'm happy to report it hasn 't changed a bit. It looks the same, smells the same, and the food is still just as good. The sauce for the hot dogs is unique to this place and is a meat based red sauce. I find that you 'll either like it or you won 't so ask to try some ahead of ordering. The hot dogs are amazing and have a nice 'snap ' to them with every bite. The usual is with mustard, onion, and sauce but some leave off the mustard and they 're still as good. Fantastic hot dog with great service! I really appreciate that they’ve maintained the original decor inside. It’s a landmark in New Britain, and there's no need to alter it. However, the sauce is a bit different than I remember—it's hard to describe, but it seems like the current owners must have modified the recipe, and I don't think it's an improvement. It's slightly not the same as before. Nonetheless, it's still a delicious hot dog and definitely worth a visit. Be aware that parking on Main St. can be tricky, so I recommend using the New Brite Plaza for a more convenient option.
I grew up eating Capital Lunch hotdogs, I love them so much and your home made sauce is amazing, my mouth is watering just to think of it. One of the best restaurants in New Britain Connecticut. I live in Orlando Florida now but ever time I go back home the first and last thing I do is go get me some hotdogs. I even brought some back with me on the plane back home to Orlando Florida. Please don’t ever close your doors your restaurant, your food and the people that work there are all amazing.
Best hotdogs around! Unique! I've never waited longer than 2 minutes if that! Staff/owners always friendly and appreciative. 100% recommend
