A couple of times during our journey through the northeast of Spain we followed a sign up a small local road to a restaurant for some lunch. None excited us until we came upon Casa Javier. What a find! While the casa is an attractive stone building the actual entrance to the restaurant is only so so, but go inside and you will find a lovely small but intimate setting. Although our Spanish is minimal we were welcomed with the menu and a pleasant smile. We are so glad we decided to stay. While driving through the Spanish Pyrenees in 2011 we stumbled upon a little restaurant off the N260. Although we rarely have lunch in Spain for some reason we did this day, enjoying a great meal and in fact writing the first TripAdvisor review for Casa Javier. We were back in the area in 2018 and did not hesitate to book dinner at Casa Javier. Once more creative and delicious cuisine. And now in May 2023 we were back to this area once again, staying in nearby Benasque, and yet made it a point of enjoying a Sunday lunch at Casa Javier. Although language precludes us from speaking much to each other it was clear Javier remembered us. We enjoyed another great meal starting with a fresh Caprese...

Went for lunch. Everything we ordered was very tasty especially the red prawns and the pork jaw. Bottle of wine was reasonably priced and we were able to take away what we couldn’t finish which was nice. Met the owner Javier and he was super friendly. Had a long chat a shot of local liquor and made us feel at home. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone who loves local Spanish fare.

Rural slow food restaurant in a tiny town in the pyrenees. Its menu is based on what can be locally sourced. We had an absolutely delicious risotto made with local wild mushrooms and very good lamb. The wine was excellent and very affordable! In fact we bought 3 bottles to take home with us. Nice place for a leisurely meal. About 15-20 min from Castejon de Sos.
