What a sad loss for this restaurant. Ever since the ownership change the food has become tasteless. This place has been a very dear spot for me and my wife and held a standard for genuine Italian food. We have come back again and this time the menu has changed and i ordered my rack of lamb medium, it came out well done and completely tasteless. I had to add salt to taste something, but the dessert was good. Hate to see restaurants sacrifice quality for an extra buck. We won't be coming here again. Staff was very friendly and caring 5 stars for them) Otherwise food in general was terrible. Bring back the quality the Italian traditions would be proud of.
Casanova is a cross between a neighborhood place and a fancy dining spot for special occasions. Amazingly, it's in a strip mall but once you step inside you're in a classic Italian trattoria. The daily happy hour menu and martinis drew us in (love the eggplant! but we returned several times for dinner. Friendly efficient staff, excellent cocktails in a classic atmosphere and a dining room quiet enough you can have a conversation. Definitely recommend.
This restaurant is a hidden gem in Dana Point! The wait staff was friendly and professional, providing an old school experience, a representation of true service. The menu selection was outstanding, and if you can decide, whatever your choice will be delicious. The cocktails were perfect as well. Chef's kiss, Casanova. Well done! Parking: Next to Albertson's supermarket, but don't let the strip mall scene deter you from eating here.
We came in for happy hour, and we're pleasantly surprised to find out that we can have it in the dining room. The bar was very crowded and noisy and the restaurant seemed quiet and relaxing. We ordered calamari a pizza and one of us had the eggplant on happy hour and the other had the shrimp aribiatta both were very good.

I ordered thru grubhub after a long week and wasn't disappointed!! Even with the grubhub drive time, the filet was so tender, scallops were delicious with a great sear and I loved the shrimp and that sauce! Calamari too! Loved it all :
Leo is an excellent server, professional and personable with a good sense of humor. The is consistent good and many dishes include a Caesar style salad making it a it a nice value.
Server was nice and attentive. Food is average at best. Pasta, salad, olives and scallops. Bought a $49 of Austin Hope for $135 (2.75X). Will not be back.
Honestly, very disappointed. The food was very bland. Even the garlic bread didn’t taste garlicky! We won’t be returning…
