This cafe is located on the ground floor of the Rydges Hotel. It's a pretty typical hotel cafe with nice decor and a cosy outdoor lounge area. We both ordered the big breakfast at $22. This came with 2 pieces of toast, 2 small poached eggs, 2 eyes of bacon, 2 little spicy sausages, a small dish of mushrooms, roasted tomato & a couple of little potato rostis. It was reasonable though the eggs weren't soft, as I like them & the bacon was pretty dry. (Actually, hubby cooks a much better version at home.) Others in our group had the eggs benny & spanish omelette, both of which looked great. One reason we chose this spot was that as Rydges Priority Guest Rewards program members,...

Avacado on toast not what it used to be. It's a bar-cafe on the bottom of a hotel, which opens up onto the street front. I hv stayed in the hotel everytime I come to Brisbane on business and will always get avacado on toast for breakie. Unfortunately, every time I return this menu item gets worse and worse. This morning it was served on two small muffin halves. No turkish bread. A dollop of avacado is neatly placed on one muffin. The other is littered with fennel and balsamic. Service is hit and miss.
I was super excited to try the Cobb salad. I love an American Cobb salad. I ignored the fact that they spelled it 'Cob' - this salad is $24! It has to be good, right?? Wrong. It is a $24 shallow dish of lettuce with a bit of egg and bac and about 2 cherry tomatoes. Avocado out of a tube (at $24, I ask you!) and a sweet, runny dressing. The chef needs to google a proper Cobb salad or drop the price by $15.
The food we ordered tasted fine only the pasta and prawn dish was inadequate as for a main to have only 3-4 prawns in it was pretty poor. 3 of us ordered this dish and all got the same amount so value for money definitely not. We did mention this to the waiter who said he would pass it on but acted like he'd heard it all before. Overall an ok place but we are still looking for the prawns ☹️ Book a table now
the coffee was the best experience near the south bank. a great feat. this time there were no healthy müsli, only flat out unchallenged speck, ei, cheese and some other things in brot to help a bad kater. also a smoothie that went down a tasty bite, it had antioxidants in it, or something. it was great. all these objects were quickly released. a great experience you have to say.
Dropped in here for lunch whist at the science fair over the weekend Service was poor. Food was all out of a packet. Pepperoni Pizza at $21.00 you expect quality. Not cooked properly either. A $3.59 coles brand version is better. I ask how does a business like this keep trading?

the service was no longer lustful at night. our dirty plates on the table for absolutely old .. while it was not busy! pizzas usual and the jerk had no taste at all.. there are much better places in a distance not waste their money Book a table now
This upmarket cafe seemed like a pretty good place to go after watching a movie at South Bank cinemas. The hot chocolate was pretty nice and I liked how they served it in a clear cup with marshmallows on the side.
