Last night, my fiancée and I had a wonderful birthday dinner at a restaurant in Chard. We dine out frequently and like to try new places, but this is one that we will definitely return to. The staff is extremely friendly, genuine, and welcoming, creating a great atmosphere inside. It's clear that they are a close-knit team who take pride in their work. They took their time to ensure we were well taken care of and their service was heartfelt. The ambiance is intimate, cozy, and relaxed. The food was exceptional, with delicious flavors, expertly prepared dishes, and generous portions. Today marks the grand reopening of the restaurant, and I eagerly checked Trip Advisor in hopes of finding a sign of your return. In my 70 years of dining out (having been raised in New York City from a young age), your establishment has always been my ideal restaurant. The innovative cuisine was perfectly complemented by your warm hospitality, and most importantly, it was affordable for us to indulge in quality cooking regularly. I sincerely hope that you have all weathered this challenging year in good health and high spirits, despite the hardship of leaving behind the well-deserved goodwill you had earned through your hard work and dedication. We had a fantastic meal for two birthdays in our group! Everything was just as it should have been, the thing that really stood out was the wonderful friendly service from Mae and the team! We had scallops/ sweetbreads for starters, both wonderfully tasty! All of us had the onglet for main course, and thank goodness we did! The food envy would have been horrendous as it was beautifully cooked (the porcini stuffed onion was also incredible . The desserts (blood orange sorbet and chocolate/pear pavlova were equally lovely. My mum called the sorbet one of the best dessert she has ever had! Overall an incredible meal, wonderful service, an amazing effort from the one chef(!!! and great value too...
This family run restaurant has to be one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Brighton. It’s so cute, cosy and the food is superb!! I’ve been recommending it everyone and so far they have all been impressed too... perfect also for group celebrations. I can’t even explain how good the good and ambiance was... felt like I was in someone’s home. Went to Chard today for lunch with 2 friends. We received a warm welcome and decor is lovely and chic. We all ordered the same a Seafood creamy chowder which came with chunks of gorgeous fresh buttermilk soda bread. The chowder was, creamy, warming, flavoursome and full of smocked haddock. I was so full as much as I wanted to try some of the gorgeous cakes in display I was too full. But for sure I will be back this is a hidden gem above Igigi an arty general store.
I think all of the other reviews may have covered it-clearly it is no secret that this is an outstanding restaurant. Everything is so fresh from the decor to the service to the wonderful food. Thanks for making our evening so special.
Everything you want from a great restaurant. Welcoming and attentive service. Excellent food. Quirky venue. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. We were 14 and we all loved it. Excellent job Mae and Ciaran. And thanks.

This is our fourth visit to Chard and once again, we were impressed by the delicious food and excellent service. If you haven't been yet, I highly recommend giving it a try. You definitely won't be let down.
