We had called in food from Charles Thai. Simply one of the best hot chilli basil fried rice with vegetables, we loved the extra dash of garlic in it, why can't everyone else make it this way! The yellow curry was thick and rich, for a change with grilled chicken... This dish was again among the best yellow curries we've had... Delicious. We'd ordered tom yum chicken as an entrée but ended up with the mains.... But this was quite authentic as well... Lapped it up happily... No complaints. Great food good quantity.... decent value for money.
Fantastic experience. Staff, food, environment, music and ambiance excelled. And changed since i was there last. I have lived in Newtown the last nine years and tried every thai restaurant up and down king st 10/10. Amazing food and they go out of their way to make the night extra special. Very reasonable price for quality thai. Try it or regret it. :) Thx guys. Yellow curry omg, crispy pork wow. money bags, curry puffs....................im going to shut up now, hungry.
Delicious, authentic Thai food. We go back at least two or three times every week because we've tried all the hundreds of Thai restaurants around, and Charles is undoubtedly the best. Best quality, best flavour, best value, best team.. Vege/vegan options are a win too.. One of those 'best kept secret' places, right in King St but still flying under the radar. Discover Charles for yourself before everybody else does.
Cute restaurant with a very relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Staff are attentive and lovely, and they make an effort with small details and some nice extra touches to your meal. Food is authentic, sophisticated (better than your average Newtown Thai) and absolutely affordable. I've had nothing but positive experiences eating here

Ordered takeaway from there a few times, the pad thai sauce is tasteless... and the other time there was only 4 small pieces of beef in my beef pad see ew. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone, there are a lot more thai restaurant choices along king st and they all charge $7 for lunch specials.
Charles Thai is the perfect combination of scrumptious food with a delightful environment. The curry puffs, as a starter, are worth every sinful bite. We also tried the crying tiger - a delicious beef dish - but it was the yellow curry what sent me through the roof!
This restaurant must be Newtown's best kept secret. Excellent quality and friendly service. We discovered it by accident and will definitely be going back! I think they also do home delivery. Their menu also has vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.
Best Thai food around! The massaman is incredible and the yellow curry is absolutely amazing. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the service is great 5/5. A real undiscovered gem in Newtown.

Charles Thai totally messed up my order then wouldn't take responsibility for it. Nothing like being stuck at home with the flu then receiving food you can't eat. I'd avoid
Fantastic Thai noodle dish for dinner. Reasonably priced too. Will certainly be returning for another visit and would recommend others do too!
