Let me first say that this restaurant offers wonderful inventive and very good food. The Escargots were excellent, as were the calves and the chocolate dessert. The ambience is attractive and good. The Grant is wonderful and offers its own sophisticated cocktails. But... The girl (with something unattractively tasteless in a quality restaurant and ridiculously big eyelashes) refused to give us a cheese board to share. She insisted on two portions. It was impossible to share one. We ended up with a much too big cheese board. In addition, we asked for a nice strong red wine with the cheese that she poured without interest for her customers and did not mention what wine it was. Again the restau...
In a word 'excellent'. Sometimes hotel restaurants can be a little common and with Hindsight maybe a trip to the city in a local restaurant would have been a better option. This is definitely not the case. The restaurant Deux Rivieres is located on the grounds/garden of the Chateau de Saulon. The food was extraordinary. My compliments to the hard working employees in the kitchen. Thank you. The wine list was extensive to help with the staff if necessary. Of course, our dog (who was allowed to sit under the table) was the first to be served with a large bowl of water. Excellent food drink, would definitely recommend.
The restaurant was a disaster. We were surprised when we looked at the menu. Les amuses where terrible, and we should have left out right away. The starter was worse. And when we got their signature Beef Dish, we decided not to eat it. It was dry cooled veal and not beef. Our friends came here 4 years ago and liked it then, apparently there is a new owner.... And we're wondering if there was even a licensed cook. Avoid a restaurant.
My husband and I ate here during our stay at the Chateau de Saulon. We took the 7-course menu and it was very good. Staff was very efficient and friendly. Wine menu was extensive and we had a very good Saint Roman Vincent Girardin 2017...and a Pouilly-fuisse 2017 for the cheese.
