I’m giving Chef House 2 stars mainly because of their service, ease of ordering, and the fact that the food was served hot. The egg rolls were dense and flavorful inside but felt dry and seemed to be fried in old grease. The Happy Family dish lacked the amount of meat expected, and the lime flavor didn’t suit my taste. The sesame chicken was also drier than usual. The prices were quite high—I spent nearly $45 on two house specials plus an extra egg roll each, which I didn’t feel was worth it. On the bright side, their customer service was decent.

I love this restaurant for fulfilling my late-night Chinese food cravings. The staff is extremely friendly and have adapted smoothly to the COVID-19 protocols. Customers place their orders by phone or online, and when they arrive, they simply call the restaurant to have their food brought out and set on a table near the door. My favorites are the crispy broccoli, snow pea stir-fry, and sweet and sour chicken—they’re always tasty and served piping hot. The portions are generous for the price, and the packaging is great. I also recently tried the pad thai, which was just as delicious!
Chef House has become my go-to late-night Chinese spot ever since the nearby Panda’s shut down. It’s not that Panda’s was better—they’re both authentic—but I was more used to Panda’s since my mom used to take me there as a kid. The fried rice here is fantastic, and the beef and broccoli never fail to satisfy. The soups are always served steaming hot and taste exactly as you'd expect. The food quality is consistently excellent. After dining here around 50 times, I’ve never been let down. I highly recommend it.
If you’re craving Chinese food late on a Thursday night, this place is fantastic. I called in a takeout order, paid over the phone, and it was ready in 15 minutes—quick and efficient service. The portions are generous, the flavors spot on, and the meat perfectly cooked. You really can’t ask for more. We chose to order from this restaurant since it was the only Chinese food spot open late on a Tuesday. It felt like we discovered a hidden gem! The kung pao chicken, magnolia beef, basil Thai fried rice, regular fried rice, dumplings, and butterflied shrimp were all fresh, full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and not overly greasy. For the first time, all five family members agreed this was the best takeout we've had in a long time!
The menu at Chef House offers delicious Chinese food that never disappoints. The service is consistently prompt, even during busy times. We look forward to returning soon—it truly feels like being back in Sacramento.
