Je me suis rendu au Resto Bar Chez Eric à Montréal pour retrouver les goûts de la cuisine française pendant mon périple au Canada.Malheureusement, il n'y a de français que le nom du restaurant ! La cuisine n'a aucune saveur, les plats sont présentés comme dans une cantine de bureau et les prix sont très élevés ! Le service est lent, nous devons relancer les serveurs plusieurs fois pour avoir les plats et nous ne sommes pas servis en même temps et lorsqu'on demande pourquoi, le serveur n'a comme excuse " Ce n'est pas de ma faute c'est en cuisine que ça met du temps ".... Je déconseille vivement ce restaurant.
The restaurant is a block of the main strip but worth the short walk. The staff was very friendly. My wife enjoyed her mussels and I had the veal mushroom-very good veal. The potatoes were ok. My kids had the steak and salmon-very tasty. The escargot was tasty with garlic and cheese. French onion soup was good. Caesar salad was very good-had real anchovies. Would come back. We ate outside in an enclosed patio-nice-birds chirping and quiet.
We had dinner at Chez Eric twice during our stay in Old Montreal. Their street front presence is very low key but once inside there is a large dining room and a quaint, quiet patio area that is private and peaceful. The service was excellent. Our waiter was charming and attentive without being invasive. The food was delicious. Definitely worth seeking out.
We went for lunch on a quiet tuesday, The back garden is nice. However, the meal...The potage and the salad were tasty and good. My wife took the pasta dish, she found it good but not tasty. I took the ,oh boy, fish and chips. What a disaster. Fish from a box and fries from a frozen bag. Not exactly what i was looking for.

We had a delicious meal and loved the ambience in the beautiful back garden. It was a wonderful setting with music coming out from the restaurant. The food was delicious and the service couldn't be better. Chez Eric is on a side street and not in the noisy crowded part of the area. A real find!
The restaurant and the courtyard are charming. The food is excellent. The onion soup was wonderful and our entire party enjoyed everything,. As with many kitchens in Montreal, however, the food is slow to come out. If you have plenty of time, this is a good restaurant and I would go back.
Don't be put off by the exterior. There's a very pleasant terrace at the back and the interior is perfectly okay. We had the classic combination of green salad (with a great dressing), mussels (which were large and tasty) and French fries. The service was excellent
Wife and I stopped in today for lunch. Place was spotless and food was great. She got muscles and I got steak. Together our $46 lunch was less than the $48 breakfast at hotel Nelligan! Highly recommend this Great for larger groups too
