Having decided upon Chez Fany for lunch in Montignac(unfortunately before reading any previous reviews), we were seated at a pleasant table on the edge of the seating area, which having a toddler and another child, suited us fine. 5-10 mins later a waiter offered us menus. At least 10 mins later he returned and took our orders, which on a busy lunchtime we accepted as run of the mill. We were then sat there for 30 mins without any drinks never mind food, anyone with children will understand that by this point patience was starting to wear thin especially in the heat. Upon going inside the restaurant to enquire where our drinks were and how long food would take I tried to speak to the waiter...

We visited on a Sunday evening in mid June, a nd the place was empty, which was a little disconcerting, but we stuck with it because of its good TA rating. It is a no frills place - plastic table cloths, casually dressed waiting staff etc, but there is a good selection of reasonably priced food on offer. Our main courses - duck casserole with beans, sausage and bacon; and veal - were both very tasty and very filling. English is not spoken much in here, so you need to know the basics in French, but this was not a problem. From a good selection of desserts we had tiramisu (in a different style) and lemon meringue pie. These were very well presented and very flavoursome. By the time we left the pl...

Chez Fany should is best avoided. We went there as a family for lunch on 9 August. We arrived shortly after 1300, but no-one came near our table for some 20 minutes (even though it was heaving with debris from customers who had just left). Eventually, when customers at the next table complained vociferously about being ignored, a waitress asked us if we wanted to eat, to which we said yes and asked to see the menu. After ten more minutes we had still not been given the menu, so we asked a different waitress if we could please order. She said she could not serve us, and when asked for an explanation said she did not need to provide any justification. We took this as our cue to leave, never ha... Book a table now

We have visited Chez Fany twice this summer, in June and September. On both visits we were able to eat outside on the terrace and without a booking. There are menus to suit all tastes and pockets and the meals are always excellent and generous. There is generally a dish of the day as well. Wine is available by the bottle, carafe or glass and the Bergerac carafe was very enjoyable. Fany and her colleague are pleasant, helpful and will take time to explain where they can especially if the customer is polite and patient. We can recommend it and look forward to going back next year.

Terrible, truck stop-like, dry, rubbery food and THE absolute rudest waitress I've ever encountered (Sunday, 9 April 2017, in case the owner or manager is reading this, which I hope s/he is). Seriously, this is the worst dining experience we've had in years. And we live in France and travel a lot, so this wasn't some cultural misunderstanding - just monumentally bad food and worse service. Avoid like the plague!!!

The food was ok but we ordered a kid menu, well done beef with pommes frites. We got a full porsion and beef medium done. The beef was like chewing gum. We told the waiter and he apoligized for it. When we should pay we had to pay full prize for the beef, so we payed more for the kid menu than for two porsions with saøad for adult.

V good, while my sister and I were waiting for our parents (who were out having a mini epic about WiFi) the waiters were very friendly and service was pretty quick. When parents arrived and food was served, we tucked into a massive starter, a huge steak (which was a bit chewy) and an outstanding chocolate mousse. Really good. Book a table now

The terrace over looks the church in the centre of the town. The staff are friendly and the establishment is clean. The food was good and reasonably priced. I would return the next time I'm in the area.
