We walked past it mid afternoon and thought it looked like a great place to return for dinner.Around 8pm we returned to the old town passing many restaurants that had queues of dozens of people waiting. We reached Chez Fred and found it half empty... first clue of what we may be letting ourselves in for. Seated, my wife ordered smoked salmon to start, my 10yr old daughter chose Palma ham and melon I had moules mariner. 3/4 Of a bottle of wine later the two girls starters arrived looking good, although the Palma certainly looked past its best. 25 minutes later a observant waiter came over asking where my mussels where! He scurried off...
We've had a family dinner at this restaurant this Friday (4 persons). Overall experience was awful. The seafood was OK, desert was so-so and for cappuccino you get barely warm black coffee with pressurized cream on top (in Italy you'd be probably killed for calling this stuff "cappuccino"). But the worst thing was service! Waiting time was terrible, they kept forgetting parts of our order, they brought coffee and tea, but desert (and it was just an apple tart) came something like 45 minutes later (!) despite several reminders. Overall it was terribly slow and annoying dinner and after we asked for a receipt we had to wait for it another 20 minutes (with few reminders as well)! I don't rememb...
La piazza del mercato dei fiori è uno spettacolo. Il caldo pomeriggio ci consiglia un locale all'aperto per gustare paella o buiabesse, come già capitato a Nizza in situazioni analoghe. Peccato aver scelto questo sciagurato locale, gradevole nell'aspetto e con personale gentile. Ma la cucina... si salva solo un piatto di deliziose ostriche che gustiamo in attesa di doppia paella e doppia buiabesse "ai cinque pesci". Poi arrivano le consumazioni "clou", che peraltro costano oltre 40 € l'una. Hubs and I were looking for a place for lunch after having spent the morning exploring old town Nice. This place is right off of the main central area that has the various produce, meat, cheese, and flower vendors, so we knew there'd be a chance that it catered heavily to tourists (and all that entails, positive and negative). We started with the burrata/tomato salad, which included basil and some assorted greens. We eagerly finished it, but the portion size would've been good for 3 or even 4 people, it was that generous. Yesterday we ate at Chez Freddy, from beginning to the end absolutely amazing; we liked it there so much we stayed around 5 hours !!!!All the food that we ordered; seafood spaghetti, gratinated oysters, regular oysters middle sized, , snails, profiteroles and bottles of rose wine, everything was absolutely amazing.. getting hungry just thinking about it again...Also the music was great, the restaurant itself looks nice and then the staff; so friendly and super helpful!!!If I would be living in France I would be eating there so often....Please open a Chez Freddy in Dubai Thank you for everything !! Meals one evening fried mussels with correct flat roquefort but drink out of price for example a glass of white wine at 9.50 the server that insists that I order a bottle 1/2 litre to 21,50 I did not take it and during the surprise note the bottle appears on the note. involuntary error I suppose. 5th supplement for mussels with roquefort short a little expensive
Great spot for sea food. They have a few bouillabaisse options, I think it needed some rice as it has of sauce.The mussels were tasty in a cream sauce, they have other sauce options for the mussels too. Good service, attentive waiters and in the Old town with a chilled vibe seated outside.
Fantastic food and attentive service! Had a great time here on a short trip to Nice. Seafood was fresh and the generous portions definitely helped! Daily special also a good deal. Would recommend and would come again.
