We have been coming to this restaurant for quite a while, several times a year and it has always been consistent in quality of food, taste and staff..... Something has changed...No longer are you greeted with a smile by the wonderful owner(?) waiter who spoke English and French, and I supsect a couple of other languages, instead you are greeted by someone who does not appear to understand French or English. Whilst my French could not be called fluent, I have never had trouble in being understood. It took three goes just to get a beer!The Popadoms were not cooked all over, soggy and not crisp, we had to send them back. A trip to Perigueux found me with time to enjoy lunch. As a fan of Indian/Pakistani food I'm always on the lookout for a place for a nice curry, and since I live in an area without a curry restaurant, I decided to check out Cafe Manija, which I happened upon during a walk in the medieval quarter.I wasn't disappointed. I chose two dishes; palak paneer (creamy spinach with paneer cheese) and mutton with dal. Absolutely spot-on and very tasty.Service was excellent and both the waiter and maitre d' spoke English (however, in a restaurant French is not a problem for me - most of the time). We stumbled across this place while we were wandering around the old part of Perigueux and decided that Indian food sounded good. We were happy we did. The outdoor dining in a lovely courtyard was very peaceful and the food was tasty and well-prepared. The hostess and the waiter both spoke excellent English, and were very helpful in putting together a great lunch from the extensive menu. The other diners all appeared to be regulars, and they also seemed to be enjoying their food as we did.
Sunday lunch. The restaurant was relatively quiet, the service discrete, precise and extremely polite. I was advised that the dish I ordered was not as hot (spicey) as I might have expected in England. I asked if it could be made a little hotter and it was excellent, spicey and full of subtle flavours too. We were asked at each course if we were happy with our meal and finally offered a liqueur with coffee (cadeau) unfortunately as we had to drive home we had to decline!

Although we arrived late we were greeted with large smiles. The service was very friendly , discreet and efficient. The food was delicious and we really enjoyed our lunch. In fact we enjoyed it so much we booked to come back with friends in a week for a leisurely dinner in a week.We can recommend this establishment for either couples or groups. They have a great terrace in summer and excellent staff year round.
Great spot for a quiet lunch, tucked away in the oldest part of perigueux. Food is what you would expect from an Indian restaurant in the UK, lots of choice, and all the regulars make an appearance (vindaloo, korma, etc etc). Everything we eat has been spice appropriate for the French clientele, but thats not necessarily a bad thing, and I'm sure you could ask them to spice it up a bit :-)
Très bon ! Tout était très bon, on s'est régalés ! Les plats étaient assez copieux, les nan parfaits. Nous avons mangé dans la petite cour, c'était agréable. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir si nous repassons dans votre belle ville !
A pleasant lunch in friendly company. Got the impression of a change in ownership as not as friendly and warm as usual and change in front of house. Food was good, service efficient and quick. Will revisit to see how it progresses

Had no intention of eating Indian! Saw the sign though!! Lovely lunch, 15e 3 course. Moist and tasty chicken tikka followed by Mutton curry. Delicious, not too hot but very tasty. Very friendly service. Highly recommended.
Very nice dinner and excellent service in atmospheric surroundings. Set menu good value. Pichet of red recommended. Naan disappointing and dessert disappointing.
