As a former chef of portuguese and cross over culinary arts... having lived and worked a little bit around the world...I simply became amazed by this little unpretensious and delightful snack- bar ! The dishes that both me and my son tasted were absolutely delicious ! When you put your soul in the art of cooking ...you get this masterpiece of taste ! Apart of the prime food, the hospitality and natural friendly approach of the owners Jorge and Silvana originally from the northeast portugese province of Tras -Os -Montes made even this first visit more memorable ! A place to ever come back....!

This is not your classic French bistro. It is however, a wonderful little gem we found completely by accident in the Marche St Quentin. Essentially its a bar and restaurant which is in a market stall in the Market. However, if you want a really fun experience then go, you sit at the bar amongst French and Portuguese will be served by Jorge and Silvana who were really good fun. This made our holiday just that little bit better. The Leitao (roast suckling pig) was excellent and the beer is very reaasonably priced. They made us feel very welcome

I love markets and by good chance I came across Chez Silvana at the St Quentin market on Bld Magena. It's bar with stools . The Portuguese food is mostly grilled or stews that take hours to cook.I went several times within a few days. I had grilled bacaulau (Salted cod) and on an other occasion grilled octopus .Both were delicious . My meal with dessert , wine ,and coffee cost around 25 euros. It's a great place to eat if one is by ones self , because many restaurants dislike single clients.

Purely by accident I discovered this little traiteur yesterday in the Market St Quintin near the Gare du Nord. I had some octopus, a bit of salted (and desalted) cod with patatoes and olive oil, some good olives and a nice glass of wine. And a good strong cup of coffee plus a pasteis de nata as a sweet. All very nice, and served with a big smile. Extremely informal, totally relaxed. Open from 8:: until 20:00 I understand. I shall be back here.
