Whether it be formal or informal, small or large; China Max WAS always the restaurant to consider going to. *Emphasis on the WAS.It is unfortunate that China Max has taken its reputation for granted, resulting in the downfall of what was such a fine restaurant. My family have dined at China Max for the last 10 or so years and we usually order a banquet. Time to time the set menu will change, but it has never done so dramatically in size. 'Served with large special fried rice' used to mean that you would receive a large bowl of rice to serve yourself into a small (very small) bowl. You would probably be able to fill this...
Recently had lunch at China Max after a very long stint of absence. It's true you cannot go back in time. The service was okay and the food was less than okay. I had the lemon chicken and it was under cooked, the coffee was terrible and just not drinkable. Ended up finishing our wine and going somewhere else for a snack and decent coffee.It's a pity to see the decline of this restaurant as it has been a local favorite (and once upon a time my favorite) for many years.I hope it can get its mojo back because it would be sad to see it go or that I just got it on a bad day and all is well.
went there for dinner with my family and it's awful. we ordered soft shell crab that smelled so funny and the taste oh lord made me want to vomit and not to mention it's was the smallest I've ever seen and overpriced. the dumplings were all very tinny and on the top of that the LARGE special fried rice was actually served in a tinny mini bowl..????!!!!! we thought that they made a mistake sent the wrong plate one when we asked the waiter told us no that's the LARGE special fried rice. never again go there
When there are lots of places to choose from in the area and you don't automatically think Chinese then think again. This place is great. Decor bit tired but you don't eat the decor. The food was great service friendly and entertaining and best of all very affordable. If you are in the areas try this place you won't be disappointed.

We went here for a business lunch and the food was so delicious. Try the Chilli Chicken in XO Sauce, deed fried flounder. Really good quality food. Cant't wait to go back!
Been here many times and will still come. Food is good and fresh. Service is pretty good too. Good for families and couples. Highly recommended!
Had a business meeting there recently.. good food.. good service.. even clean toilets!!! Try the sweet and sour fish.. very surprising
