The woman who works the register is an absolute rock star – she’s amazing, and I truly love her! Even on their worst days, the food is at least decent, but more often than not, it’s fantastic (and I’m usually quick to get upset over bad food). They always get my order right. In the six years I’ve been a customer, there was only one time something was missing, and the wonderful lady actually called me to let me know. I was a bit disappointed with the food at Chinese American. I decided to try it because my family really loves the place. The customer service was excellent, but my meal fell short of expectations. I ordered the spare rib tips out of curiosity, and while the rice was okay, my plate had too many bones and cartilage. The before and after photos really show the issue. The meat tasted stale, which was disappointing, and the flavor of the ribs was just average. Unfortunately, I had an upset stomach the next day. Despite this, I’m willing to give it another try because the customer service was outstanding.
I truly apologize for leaving a negative review, as I’ve never done so before. Unfortunately, this was the worst Sweet and Sour Chicken I’ve ever tasted, and it’s the only dish I usually enjoy when I order Chinese food. The texture, greasiness, meat quality, and flavor were all disappointing. I sincerely hope that the other items on the menu are better for other customers.

HORRIBLE FOOD....i simply ordered pork lo mein....it smells burnt and taste burnt..like the wok was extremely too high...and thry tried to cover it up with sauce. I also ordered a pt of shrimp fried rice... there were only 4 shrimp and the rice was justbad! I would hate to order anything else... so disappointing while visiting New Orleans.
My husband has been in the hospital for 17 days. The food here is decent, but he needed a little treat, so I ordered egg drop soup and fried rice. The owner, a very kind lady, kindly provided an extra bowl and plate so we could share. The food was tasty, and as I was leaving, more and more cars kept arriving.
