We have wanted to check this place out and finally succeeded, but I may have worked myself into expecting too much of it. We stopped in with the kids for an early dinner/late lunch and jumped right in. My wife had the fried fish sandwich, which was beautiful and the fish was fried just right. Not sure the bun did too much to add to it when you have two giant planks of fish stacked on each other, but I have to say again that the fish was gorgeous. It almost breaks my heart that I have to write this review as I absolutely loved the California Burrito and thought for sure that Chula’s was one of my new favorite spots but unfortunately, the manager Tiffany was far too rude and unprofessional for me to add it to my list. My boyfriend visits often and never has any issues with the service and the only difference between he and I (aside from me being female) is that he is white and I am black. He said he came there with a black friend once and it did seem as if they weren’t very accommodating to him either so maybe this just isnt the type of place that’s comfortable servicing people of color? I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chula Seafood Uptown and I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed. As someone who was craving some good old fish and chips, this place did not disappoint. Not only were their fish and chips cooked to perfection, but they were so good that I found myself returning for seconds just a few days later.The service was top notch as well, with the staff being incredibly sweet and helpful. This place might be one of the best seafood restaurant in the town.I would recommend fish and chips, clam chowder, and sashimi platter here. The fish (fish and chips) was made from cod, very flaky and delicious. Clam chowder was thick and creamy with bacon in it. Sashimi platter was also very good. Hamachi and salmon belly were very fresh and clean.The dish I was not impressed with was the Hawaiian Poke Bowl with spicy tuna and scallop. This is a decent spot to relax. I tried the Mediterranean Bowl with shrimp and the fish and chips. The fish and chips were excellent, especially when paired with the Warrior IPA. The Mediterranean bowl was just okay; the chickpeas were a bit too firm, and the shrimp seasoning didn't really enhance the overall flavor. There's a nice side bar area, and the ordering process is simple—you order and find a seat. The staff was very friendly and helpful!
Fantastic menu! A friend suggested trying the tuna melt, and wow... that sandwich is impressive. Plus, the chimichurri is like the cherry on top (shoutout to Noble Bread). The seafood quality is top-notch, and the staff is friendly. Food: 5/5
Excellent clam chowder!! We also had the fish tacos and a Mediterranean bowl with shrimp! Would recommend this spot and will return for the chowder again!!
