We decided to go to this restaurant after reading some of the reviews on here. The search revealed that this was the place to go for the Piri Piri experience. The location is just outside the main shopping areas and close proximity to a famous Catholic Church:Church of the Third Order of Our Lady of Monte do Carmo which is worth a visit- beautiful inside but macabre chapel with walls full of monks skulls and bones) Anyway we arrived to find lots of people waiting for take out but seating in the small square in front. For about €12 I had a beer and more food than I could eat. You get what you get, which is rice (plain boiled a little overcooked), fries (nice and crispy but a little salty), simple salad of tomato lettuce onion with oil herbs and vinegar, and chicken with or without piri piri. Chicken was well seasoned and on the bone with very tasty crispy parts and skin. It was about half of a small chicken. The staff served me and then left me alone. I recommend for a reasonably priced, authentic feeling lunch.
This was definitely a surprise find, we happened to come across this place whilst on a walking tour of Faro and the smell drew us in. The menu is pretty simple, it is Piri Piri chicken, you choose if you want half or the whole chicken. The chicken is not that large but you get a very large portion of chips it was enough for two of us. Took a while to place our order and get the food but it was a fine authentic taste. On a side note, we found the sangria fairly nice too.

Loved this family business because he wasn't touristy... the locals had their lunch break or took part. We were outside and saw the world over. It's a simple joint that only makes chicken sharp or not. We shared half a chicken that came with rice, chips and salad, had a blanket and 3 beers... and it came to E13.50. Simple and tasty.
Great value and friendly atmosphere. They only do one dish (Piri Piri chicken with chips, rice salad), but do it very well. For a family of 4 with a bottle of water it came to around 32 Euros. Would recommend (as long as you like chicken)
Anyone that’s eaten at Marouf 1 will love this place, we ate inside only about 5 tables) the staff were fantastic, the Chicken Piri Pir with a mixed salad was as good as it gets, we had a 3 course lunch with great wine beer for €28 Book a table now
