We opted for the dome for two and pre-selected our four-course meal when making the reservation (you can see our choices in the attached photo). The burrata was probably the highlight of the meal. The charcuterie board was decent enough that it didn’t raise any immediate red flags. However, the salads arrived in paper bowls and were on par with what you might find at Panera—not great but not terrible. The main courses were the biggest letdown. The sliders consisted of three buns with three overcooked beef slices and four pieces of asparagus. The salmon looked more like a chicken breast, and the couscous was seasoned with, you guessed it, a heavy dose of salt. The dessert platter turned out...

Location is great! They accommodate furry friends! Thank you! The manager even made sure my pup had water. I had a lobster roll and my wife had burrata. Sounds like the burrata was good because it is hard to mess up?..however, let?s talk about the lobster roll. Now, I only ordered it because my son wanted to share. The price was fair at $29; however, compared to a legit lobster roll, City Winery skimped on lobster. No claw meat or tail meat was distinguishable. They toss a chopped up chili with seeds and pith so the level of spice is ~20x a jalapeño, which is fine, but 100% masked any lobster flavor that should have been present. The roll also came out cold, though it was toasted and should...
I decided to stop in this little place for a nice glass of bubbles by the river. I won't lie that I wasn't expecting much, and was mostly expecting a decent view. There are two sides of this establishment. The right side is for self service and the leftside is for table service. I personally only did the left side of the restaurant as I wanted a sit down experience. I ended upbeing pleasantly surprised, the staff were friendly and the cava was good. As the wine served is all a part of the city wineryvineyards it's not easy to check and find out what is good without just trying it. I cannot rate the quality of the food orother beverages, but if you want to enjoy bubbles downtown on the river...
City Winery at the Chicago Riverwalk is a great spot for locals and tourists alike. Located directly on the Chicago River, City Winery offers a nice selection of wine, cocktails, and beer. They also have various small plates and charcuterie. During the cooler months, you can still enjoy being “outdoors” in one of their heated River Domes, which are basically big synthetic igloos. River Dome reservations last two and a half hours and are $85 per person, which includes a $60 food and beverage minimum spend. Each dome fits up to 8 people and comes with a Bluetooth speaker, games, and furniture. Book a table now
You pay for the location of the river walk, my aperol sprits was $17 alone! They also were unable to make some drinks and have a limited bar. The service is not super but it’s not necessarily your standard restaurant, more of a quick interaction and I’m sure they see thousands of people sometimes so hard to smile at all of them! Go at sunset you’ll have a beautiful view off the river. One of my favorite things is you can take your items and sit where you want along the steps or water.
I love this location. The service is always great, whether you’re on the side with table service or on the self service side. This location is tucked back from the river which is nice because you can see the river and not be on top of the people accessing the river walk.
Wonderful setting along the Chicago River in beautiful downtown. One of the few affordable riverfront restaurants. Good portions are plentiful and service is attentive. Would return in a heartbeat.
A must see when you're in Chicago. Especially in the spring summer and fall. I don't think there's anywhere in the world that is as beautiful as this part of downtown Chicago. Book a table now
