What a difference a year makes… I visited in June 2023 for a birthday celebration thoroughly enjoyed the food. Our waiter was subpar for a fine dining experience neglected to really serve us consistently. We requested a new waiter then things were great! I frequently visit many restaurants in the city and I wanted to celebrate my brother’s birthday with excellent food so we selected Clancy’s, however this visit was not up to any of our expectations. Our waiter was very welcoming the atmosphere was not quite as inviting as last time but that is the least of our concern. I get that Clancy 's is as old school as they come they take care of their regulars (of which there are many) but their reservation system (or lack thereof) since Covid is frustrating to say the least. Called the other day, was told they only take rez 's 30 days in advance (OK), but the only ones they accept were for 5:30p 9p ?????. Was told we could show up and see what happens . Again, understand this restaurant operates on their regulars getting first dibs, but to give no one else consideration is off putting to say the least
Clancys is a gem of a restaurant! First off our waiter Martin was a total professional and we had a blast with him all night. We got in late after a Tulane move in and we’re blown away at the excellent dinner. I had lightly breaded drum fish with crab meat and an incredible sauce. Tasty martinis also!
Do the phones work at this place? Have been calling them today since 11:00 and either rings endlessly or busy tone. Rlly wanted to try this place out but if reservations are required and they won’t answer the phone, not sure how it will be possible.
