I hate leaving reviews. I have worked in the restaurant/hospitality industry for over ten years in multiple large cities, and I think the option for random people to leave reviews gives an air of arrogance and a false sense of bourgeois to a people who just need to enjoy their time out. With that being said, Clavel might be the best Mexican food experience I have had outside of Mexico. The cocktail program is extremely thoughtful and well executed, the Mezcal selection is purposefully curated and they might have the best quesadillas I have ever had. On top of all of this? You can do this for $30 per visit…including gratuity. An east coast gem and I will continue to travel to enjoy this place...

So delicious! These tacos are incredible, the margarita is perfection (and you can spice it up with some special add-ins), and the queso and side of black beans are both *chefs kiss*. The menu is a bit overwhelming and there’s a lot on there that is unfamiliar (especially the cocktail menu) so it may be a good idea to look ahead to get a feel for it. My only complaint is that it is extremely loud in the restaurant, so groups are challenging. I went with about 8 people and we had a very hard time communicating, so it’s probably best for smaller groups/couples.
