Okay, I will say since I live in the same town I always get my order to go, so I can't comment on the "dining in" experience. What i will say that we get PLENTY of food for the money. We usually get a 4 fish 1 chip order for my family of 4. The wife will want a salad instead of fries. With just 1 order of chips, we get a LOT of fries for myself and 2 kids. We can't finish them all in one sitting. The portion of fish that we get is really good.Regarding a previous posting of the fish leaving a bad "film on the roof of their mouths", I agree that my family had the same experience in the past. Popped in for dinner one late afternoon and ordered Haddock & chips and a salad. The owner was friendly and helpful. He told us he drove from Markam, Ont. everyday and made up his batter fresh. The salad was crisp and tasty with the balsamic vinegar dressing. Our fish was beautiful - the batter was just perfect. The original old fashion batter - not that breaded stuff you get some places.We definitely will be back. Our total bill was about $28.00 dollars
We visited on a Thursday. It was very quiet which we liked. The fries were very good, made from real potatoes. The fish was,batter was lite and not over saturated with grease. Anna was our server, very nice and friendly. However, as other guests have commented, we agree the price is a bit much. Overall, good place for fish and chips.
I had never been but my friend insisted. Very expensive and I was uncomfortable in the atmosphere. Seemed grubby and dirty to me. The food was good but I had a hard time because it felt so run-down. There was no one else in the restaurant the whole time we were there for lunch and I rarely see anyone inside. Book a table now
I spend a family day with my son and wanted to try someplace new for us. I heard great things about this place. I beleave the batter makes the flavor after the fish is selected. Had the halibut the batter was nothing special . Will try other places for that flavor I'm looking for.
Very expensive and very greasy. So greasy the kids were complaining about the film on the roof of their mouth. They said it was like when you got lip chap in your mouth. Can't get rid of the film in our mouths.Cost over $40 for 3 pieces of fish and 2 order french fries.
We have had fish & chips there a couple of times. There are not many places around for fish & chips anymore. It was a nice treat. A bit pricey but worth it once in a while. I enjoy the halibut most. Thanks!
We've eaten here on a few occasions. I think it's the only fish and chip place in town. That being said it's pretty good. It isn't cheap though. I'd call it your prototypical F & C restaurant. Book a table now
Love fish and chips? Then why haven't you tried cooks bay yet. Nice and crisp not oily. Just as fish and chips should be.
