Copper Kettle Pub - Table reservation

Not sure if I want to let anybody else know about this GEM of a secluded pub in the little hamlet of GLEN WILLIAMS. However, ya gotta give credit where credit is due...and I do not mean the nearby river. About 2014 this place was an extremely popular but very well worn stop for weekend drivers and motorcycle tours. The food and beer taps had declined and It was pretty much on its way out. Fortunately a local couple realized this beautiful historic edifice was too good to lose and they poured their hearts and a fair amount of money into it for us to continue to enjoy. The owners have put a lot of work into the place and the ambience, for us, is great. The food is always well prepared, But the attitudes of everyone are really poor. When I asked why their southern fried chicken is just a 1/4 roasted chicken in gravy with smashed potatoes and not like any southern USA chicken I 've ever had, the answer was 'that 's the way WE do it . I just called to ask what is on the menu tonight (menu is not on their web site , I was told, the usual dishes plus veal . When I reminded the woman that their menu is not on their web site and explained that I do not have it memorized, her response was, the usual, like burgers, salmon, trout, wings. This location has become our go-to stop when we want a country drive with a cozy and comfortable restaurant. Here we can be assured of excellent food served from a terrific kitchen by friendly, fast and efficient staff. I can't wait for the warmer weather when the patio is open!!!! SHEPHERD'S PIE $20 tastes better than it looks served. Definitely the lamb flavour is gorgeous although some people might think it a bit on the salty side ...but not ME!!! KETTLE BURGER $21 is a HUGE patty with generous portion of golden fries. There weren't chalkboard SPECIALS other than a wild mushroom soup on Saturday which is unusual.

I was at Glen Williams at lunch time, and stopped at the Copper Kettle for lunch. The place was quite busy when I arrived and since I was by myself, I was asked if I don't mind sitting at the bar counter. I just found that the counter was not really comfortable to eat lunch. The service was nice, and the portion was big. However, I found the taste quite average to my liking.

About the friendliest staff I've ever seen. Food was great, ambience was really nice. Top shelf, I should have been coming here more often.
