The Crooked Billet had a good selection of drinks (both alcoholic non- alcoholic) a variety of foods on the menu (a shame the sharing platters both contain meat though). However, the food itself was disappointing for the prices charged. I ordered the Wagu Beef Burger for £18.95, it came with no salad, no coleslaw, stale bun no sauce in the burger. Similarly, we ordered the Nachos and the tortilla were extremely soggy, and missing jalapeño but delicious dips (salsa, soured cream, guacamole). My husband and I visited the crooked billet on Sunday with our two little girls and it was just so lovely to see this pub back to its former glory! From walking in you could smell the welcoming open fire, the buzz of a full bar and restaurant and that warm friendly greeting you expect when eating out for Sunday lunch! We all had a Sunday roast which was really tasty and even my girls did their best to clear their plates and the honeycomb ice cream is such a treat. I moved to the village a short distance from the Crooked Billet in late September 2023 with the intent to enjoy a good old Village Pub atmosphere and I am pleased to say Paul and team took over shortly after my arrival and they have not disappointed in delivering this. We popped in as it is pretty local to us and we are looking for a new reasonably priced local after our favourite was 'modernised '. The menu looked good and the pies looked very tempting. The pies were very good, although the veg tasted a little odd. But they are still getting to grips with the brand new kitchen. Pudding menu is very limited but again, I 'm sure this will improve as they settle in. It was certainly busier than I 've seen it in a long time and there is no doubting their enthusiasm and commitment. Very good wishes to them. P. S. The Ploughman 's looks amazing!

Popped in tonight for the first time having heard good things about the New Owners. I wasn't disappointed. Lovely friendly welcome toasty warm fire and a nice atmosphere of a traditional English pub We ordered both food and drink . We had chicken pie and a steak kidney pudding. Both were delicious. My only disappointment was the pudding was baked rather than steamed but the quality of the filling was superb. Lots of vegetables and mash all washed gown with a traditional draft ale. A very pleasant evening with lovely hosts. We will be going back very soon.
My Wife and I popped in for a midweek meal. We walked I. And it was great to see the pub so busy. We hadn’t booked but we were seated quickly. We both had pies, my wife had the veggie cheese option and I had the steak and kidney suet pudding which was lovely. Service was great, food was great and the bear and gin was great as well.
Like all the other recent posts I’m so pleased to see this gorgeous pub back up and running again. I had dinner recently and plumped for the popular steak kidney pudding, absolutely delicious! Even though it’s a 40-minute walk, The Billet is fast becoming my new local!

Amazing to have the new owners reigniting life into our local pub! Went there to celebrate my birthday with family and felt so welcome we will be there for christmas dinner for sure!
