We visited friends who were staying in LittleTarrington and they booked the Crown and Anchor for us to have lunch. A friendly welcome was offered by the staff and we ordered drinks and were shown to our table. The Sunday lunch menu offered 4 starters and 4 main courses with a vegetarian option. Our wives both had Roast Turkey, whilst we men both had the Beef (served medium rare),all arrived with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoe's,carrot's and parsnips, whilst the ladies also had homemade sausage meat stuffing to accompany the turkey, and separate dishes of cauliflower cheese, brocolli and cabbage were delivered as sides. Very disappointed in the meal. 8 of us went there last night as a birthday celebration. Three of us ordered Steak salad the other Chicken Caeser salad. The 4 men 's orders were very good the 2 desserts they had after were good. Sadly can 't say the same for our salads! £17.95 for 4 strips of steak, lettuce leaves,a few bits of pepper cucumber some cherry tomatoes. The other 2 steak salads had 6/7 strips of steak(I was unlucky with 4 strips). With that came a small pot of blue cheese dressing which helped a little to lift the 'salad '! The Chicken salad had even less salad 7 pieces of lettuce handful of croutons! Honestly, to be charged £17.95 for that was not value for money. Had it not been...

The accommodation booked by me and my motorcycling buddy was too far from Hereford easily to walk into the City. We were, therefore, delighted to find this pub in the local village, a ten minute walk across open fields. Of the three evenings we stayed, we ate and and drank in the C&A for two of them. We were made very welcome in the buzzy atmosphere, full of locals. The beer and cider was perfectly kept and the food, a good choice of pun favourites, was beautifully cooked.

On a recommendation, family booked Sunday lunch (28/8). Sadly, the quality of the food was very poor. Quantity of the roast beef was fine, but extremely tough. Indeed, the chef must have been aware when slicing?? Vegetables/potatoes were bland and undercooked. Waiting staff were very pleasant and efficient, but 'the kitchen ' let the let the team down.
