The key to getting it to work properly is to type, as Tarzan said, “make Cuban food.” And voila, the name Cuban Island Restaurant popped out at me. Glancing at the GPS, I knew this was automatically a win as I didn't have to go to the mainland. Heard a lot over the years about this place. Finally stopped by to taste what everyone was talking about.I went in with high hopes and left dissatisfied.The appetizers both seemed to be over cooked on the outside and cool to almost cold on the inside. Highly disappointed with those.The steak was overcooked and had no flavor. The onions didn't even seem to help!Wife had the mojo pork and it tasted old and that it had been sitting around all day in its own fatty oils. All we tasted was pure fatty grease taste. Overall the experience left me disappointed and I won't be back unfortunately.
As a lifelong Florida resident, I've had my fair share of Cuban cuisine, but this place stands out as the best I've ever experienced. Every dish I tried was exceptional. Their house sauce is fantastic, and the passion fruit mojito deserves a perfect 10 out of 10—highly recommended! Our waitress, Celeste, was fantastic as well and even prepared our drinks. This restaurant definitely deserves a solid 5+ stars all around!
We have truly enjoyed every visit to Cuban Island. The food is delightful, and the service is fantastic as well. I would love to try everything on the menu, but I simply can't resist the Vaca Frita—it's just that amazing! We can't recommend Cuban Island highly enough. As for parking, it's a small restaurant with limited spots available. Book a table now
I told the waitress I was allergic to pork and the beans was full of ham. Then they took back the food and didn't bring me new utensils so I had to eat with a soup spoon. Music and pretty waitresses was the only thing good in this location.
There’s no food left to take a photo of because we ate it all. Everything was well crafted with great attention to detail. We tried some of everything. The mojo sauce is particularly good.
The food was very good. Really enjoyed the Ropa Viejas. Once sat the service was good but we were forgotten about waiting on the patio for a table.
