I have a debit card in which the chip often malfunctions in the processors. I usually can't use this card at the pump, so naturally I go inside to use it with the clerk (where most places it is a process of three times of inserting the chip,malfunction, swipe, and all set. . The clerk today had no patience for the process and kept cancelling the transaction.Basically saying I was out of luck if I had no other form of payment. I was very frustrated at this point because I've neverhad this issue before.
