Wow! I blown away by the flavours of the food at this place. We ordered the Jerk Chicken and Curry Goat Roti. Jerk Chicken: I was so pleasantly surprised by the flavour of the rice and the chicken. The rice had this really nice fresh and uplifting flavour to it, well balanced with the spices of the chicken. The chicken, was spot on extremely aromatic roasted flavours all at once. It was a delight! Curry Goat Roti: Just as beautiful as the dish above. The roti was thin and even throughout with that nice dhalpuri which adds some great texture to the gravy of the curry. The Goat was cooked perfectly, something which fairly few restaurants do so well. Remarks: If you love Indian food, you’re bou...

My friends and I visited from out of state. I was apprehensive with how empty the store was but found comfort in the cleanliness of the store and efficiency the owner had. We had the chicken curry and the last of the oxtail. We wrapped it up for us nicely and we went to a near by park to enjoy. Let me tell you... that first bite had all of us gaping at each other with the immediate flavor our meals had. I'm talking about eating so fast you feel that heaviness in your chest! My goodness it was delicious and at this very moment I would love to have another bite of my chicken lol! If you're in a time crunch I would hold off, he seemed to be preparing it as ordered but if you have the time and t...

The Caribbean is calling you to New West. I introduce you to try authentic Trini food from D Roti Shak. Open for 9 years, here they know exactly how to transplant food straight from the West Indies to Vancouver. The curry goat with roti is a roti folded into a nice pillow and filled with curry sauce, potatoes, and goat meat that is so tender it falls apart. Doubles are a Trini street food, so common and popular that you can find a dime a dozen in Toronto, so much that they even have doubles festivals! This is however lacking in the Vancity food scene. D Roti Shak is a gem and an absolute spotlight for anyone craving real Trinidadian food. Come for a lime at D Roti Shak.

So recently went to D Roti Shak it was a disagrace. We are from the US was told they don't use credit debit cards only cash which wasn't a problem. In total out item came to be $88 Canadian dollars but the business owner refused to convert the money and said they only take dollar for dollar. My friend said to just take her items off and he claimed he couldn't remove the items because his boss would be mad at him but he was the owner of the business. He really tried to scam and make a profit and pocket the rest of the money he tried to steal from taking dollar for dollar. I will never be doing business here again 0/10 recommended. Terrific food. Had the curry goat roti and some doubles. Both items were sheer Trinidadian culinary perfection. Balanced flavours, wonderful spicing, just delicious! This should be a 5 star review if not for the unpleasant, unfriendly service. The cranky guy behind the counter seemed like he was unhappy to be there. Our order came out of the kitchen quickly though. If you do go, just order, get your food, pay, and get out. Head down to River Market, find a table and eat there.

First time trying a roti.... I asked for a recommendation, and two guys in the restaurant quickly volunteered opinions before the owner could. We tried a chicken and a goat roti... Chicken one was a sweeter milder curry, while the goat was more in your face with the spice. Both were great, but if you are only 'ok ' with spice... Maybe skip the goat one. Will go back to try something another time!

Lots of flavour and good spice. This is one of our favourite places to get roti. Friendly staff. Enough variety in the menu. Got sorrel, Peardrax, doubles, and beef roti. So good. Never disappoints. My wife is from Trinidad and loves the food from here. So lucky to have good Trinni food close by. Would recommend this place to anyone. We will be back (again). Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

This is the place to get my oxtail fix. It's a bit on the pricier side compared to other dishes you can get for lunch but all worth it. Of all the places in Vancouver that serves oxtail with rice and peas, this is the most authentic. They are also on doordash with a bit of a bump up compared to ordering in store. Book a table now

Very flavourful food! Prepared fast. Vegetarian options. We don't find it very spicy at all (as someone else commented about). They also sell delicious hot sauces if you want to add heat to your meal. A great option for authentic tasting food. It closes early, so a good lunch/early dinner option.
