Best Japanese restaurant my wife and I have around Chestnut Hill. The place can be a bit hard to find if you're already inside the mall. It's located inside Bloomingdales. If you're inside the mall, then just enter blooming dales and hug the left side corner. You'll find the entrance to Daikanyama. They typically have a tarp out, showing the menu.I would highly recommend the Tempura. Any of them. Vegetable, shrimp, seafood tempura, all of them are great. They fry it to perfection. The only thing is that their tempura sauce tends to be on the bland and gingery side, but the overall taste blends well together. If you're on a budget, then make sure to head here for lunch as the lunch sets are, o...

This has to be the worst Japanese food I've encountered in town when it comes to quality, and it's definitely not worth the high price. The seafood udon was disappointing, consisting of a few pieces of frozen fish cakes, wilted cabbage, and deep-fried tempura. There was no broth—just thick, bland udon sitting in hot, salty water. The sauce clearly came from a store-bought bottle. Save yourself both time and money; you could easily pick up these frozen ingredients from the grocery store, whip up a meal at home in about 10 minutes, and it would probably taste better. Additionally, the restaurant is staffed by chefs and waiters who primarily speak Chinese.

We are in town to visit musician daughter. We were to do some shopping and to have a nice lunch.. and this Chestnut Hill mall venue turned out to be a perfect choice to accomplish both .. We were offered a very nice booth enough for 6+ with sliding doors on two sides. The three of us totally enjoyed the privacy, the atmosphere, the food, the service, the ample space and previous time with our daughter. Would love to be back again anytime when we are in town! I highly recommend Daikanyama Japanese! ?????

The atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice. I specifically requested no shellfish in the dish I ordered, but they served me imitation crab instead. When I inquired whether the imitation crab was flavored with any real shellfish, they did replace it. I had mentioned that I don't eat shellfish because of an allergy. Book a table now

The Chestnut Hill Daikanyama is terrific. Avoid Lexington. It was an unpleasant meal with flies attracted to the food on the table. Sushi was room temperature and not pleasant. Parking: In rear and side of restaurant

Worst service ever. We did not get cup of water until our appetizer were served. The food is also bad. There are so many restaurants around Boston offering better Japanese food.
